Gaduggai (English: Clever) is a 1989 Telugu comedy film produced by Smt. A. Sesharatnam under the Gopi Films banner and directed by Sarath. It stars Rajendra Prasad, Rajani in the lead roles and music composed by Chakravarthy.[2] The film was recorded as a Hit at the box office.[3]
Plot
Gopi / Pandu (Rajendra Prasad) an innocent guy with childish nature, he lives along with his Grandfather Bhushaiah (Satyanarayana) & grandmother Parvathi (Pandari Bai) in a village. Gopi does all the naughty things. Papa Rao (Kota Srinivasa Rao) a moneylender, who suffers the villagers giving loans with heavy interests. Even Bhushaiah is also taken debt from him. Gopi always teases and obstructs his way. Amala (Rajani) daughter of millionaire Koteswara Rao (Bhimeswara Rao) leaves in the city. Papa Rao is her maternal uncle, once she visits the village for a tour. Amala's acquaintance with Gopi begins with petty quarrels. Later on, she starts liking him when he protects her from a snake bite. Unfortunately, Koteswara Rao dies out of a heart attack by putting the entire property on Amala's name and keeps his friend Lawyer Chidanandam (Allu Ramalingaiah) as her guardian. Amala's another maternal uncle Gandabherundam (Gollapudi Maruti Rao) and maternal aunt Kanthamma (Suryakantham) who stays along with her, plan to make Amala's marriage with their sons Prasad (Prasad Babu) & Buchi (Ramana Reddy) respectively; to grab her property. Meanwhile, Bhushaiah sees an alliance to Gopi, Papa Rao spoils it by making Gopi drink alcohol unknowingly. Frustrated Bhushaiah beats Gopi very badly and throws him out of the house. Gopi leaves the village and reaches the city where Lawyer Chidanandam gives him shelter. Once he meets Amala, she changes his entire attire, educates him and transforms him into an expert in all fields. Amala appoints Gopi as her secretary and keeps him in the house to protect herself from selfish relatives. Now it is a comic tale, Gopi teaching a lesson to Gandabherundam & Kanthamma. Eventually, in the village, Papa Rao auctions Bhushaiah's house and gets them out. Bhushaiah & Parvathi also reach the city in search of Gopi. Here Gandabherundam could not tolerate the torture of Gopi, so, he calls Papa Rao from the village and he recognizes Gopi. Both of them makes a plan and kidnaps Bhushaiah & Parvathi, they threaten Gopi and forcibly makes him to get rid of Amala's life. Parallelly, Gandabherundam makes marriage arrangements of Prasad & Amala. Through Kanthamma Gopi comes to know regarding this and also that Koteswara Rao's death is not a natural, he was murdered by Gandabherundam and his son Prasad. At last, Gopi breaks out their plan, protects his grandparents and makes the culprits arrested. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Gopi & Amala.
