Flippin is an unincorporated community located in Monroe County, Kentucky, United States. The community is concentrated around the intersection of Kentucky Route 249 and Kentucky Route 678, northwest of Gamaliel and east of Fountain Run. Indian Creek, a tributary of the Barren River, passes through Flippin.
The community was named for the local Flippin family of pioneers.[2] It was originally known as Johnstonville, after another pioneer family. Flippin had its own post office from 1858 to 1964.[2]
