Child marriage in Botswana. Though Botswana has low incidents of child marriages, the practise is reported to be rampant among the Zezuru, Basarwa, parts of the Kgalagadi communities and in North Western Botswana.[1]

Bostwana Marriage Act

  • Registration of marriages of religious and customary marriages.[2]
  • Increased the age of marriage to 21 without consent.[2]
  • Persons below the age of 18 can only marriage with the consent of parents.[2]
