The Child Maintenance Group (CMG) is a delivery arm of the Department for Work and Pensions in Great Britain and the Department for Communities in Northern Ireland. Launched in 2012 to replace its predecessor, the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission, the CMG is responsible for implementing the Child Support Act 1991 and subsequent legislation in the form of its two services, the Child Support Agency and from 2012 its long-term successor, the Child Maintenance Service.

The current Minister in charge of the Child Maintenance Service is Kit Malthouse.

Child maintenances is assessed using the non residential parents income after deduction of pension contributions only, so is not assessed against actual take home pay. It has many pitfalls and loop holes that allow non resident parents evade proper payment and has few, if any, means of enforcing payment. There are many children and single parent families left in poverty due to the failings of the CMS. The self employed benefit greatly from this system and often end up under paying through failing to declare their income appropriately.
