The British Rail Class 745[1] is a class of electric multiple unit being built by Stadler Rail for Greater Anglia. They are part of the FLIRT modular train family.[2]
History
In August 2016, Abellio Greater Anglia was awarded the East Anglia franchise with a commitment to replace all of the existing fleet. As part of this an order was placed with Stadler Rail for twenty 12-carriage electric multiple unit Stadler FLIRTs. Ten 745/0s will replace the Class 90 locomotives, Mark 3 carriages and Driving Van Trailers on London Liverpool Street to Norwich services.
Ten 745/1s will replace the Class 379s on Stansted Express services from London Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport.[3][2][4][5] The first 745s are due to enter service in late April 2019.[6] All are scheduled to enter service in 2019.[7][8]
All will be maintained at Norwich Crown Point.
