The British International School Hanoi, commonly referred to as BIS Hanoi,[1] is an international school in Vinhomes Riverside in Hanoi, Vietnam.[2] It is part of the Nord Anglia Education group and is one of the four British international schools in Vietnam.[3] It provides a British-style education for children from 2 to 18 years old. It is a registered centre for the UK Cambridge Assessment International Education examination board.

History

The school was established in 1997 as an offshoot of the British International School in Ho Chi Minh City. It was bought by Nord Anglia Education in 2015. The school has collaborated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and UNICEF.[4]

Curricula

The Early Years Foundation Stage and primary school curricula are based on the English National Curriculum and the International Primary Curriculum.[5] Students in the secondary school follow the National Curriculum (England, Wales and Northern Ireland). In years 10 and 11, students prepare for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education. Students in years 12 and 13 follow the IB Diploma Programme[6] curriculum.

The school is an International Baccalaureate World School, authorised to deliver the IB Diploma Programme.[7] It is a member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia[8] and is accredited by the Council of International Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.[9]

The school offers the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.[10] It holds an annual international festival.[11]
