Muhammad Bashir, (Urdu: بشیر مہتاب ‬‎, Hindi: बशीर महताब) born 14 March 1994 in Tehsil Pogal Paristan of Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, is a Urdu poet.

Mehtaab is known as the first and by far the only Urdu poet from Pogal Paristan. He is also the only Urdu poet from Ramban district whose poetry has been uploaded on Rekhta.[1][2][3][4]

Education and Career

Mehtaab completed his school education from Govt Higher Secondary School Ramban in 2010. He started writing Urdu poems and columns at an early age. His short Urdu poems (gazal) and columns have been published in many Urdu dailies of J&K. [5][6] He is the member of the 'Bazm-e-Adab Ramban[4][7]' which is a cultural and literary non-governmental organization based in Ramban.

Recently, Mehtaab created his own personal blog[8] and posts poems on it. Mehtaab is also featured on the Urdu websites, Rekhta,[9] Aruuz,[1][2][3][10] Urdu Point[11] and OnlineUrdu.[12]

Mehtaab on Rekhta

For his contribution to Urdu literature, Mehtaab was featured on Rekhta as one of the youngest Urdu poets. He is the only Urdu poet on the Rekhta from Ramban district. Some of the selected gazals of Mehtaab have been uploaded on the Rekhta website.[9]
