Bulaki Das Kalla

Dr. B.D. Kalla PCC President

Bulaki Das Kalla (born 4 October 1949) or Dr. B.D. Kalla, as he is popularly known, is a name in the Indian social and political arenas.

He has done B.Sc., M.A. (Economics), L.L.B and Ph.D. degrees. He is the son of Pushkarna Brahmin Shri Giridhari Lal Kalla and grew up to be one among the famous people of Bikaner. Dr. B.D. Kalla is a social activist, an educationist and a busy political person, all wrapped in one.

Married to Smt. Shiv Kumari Kalla on 10th February 1971 they have a two sons (Ashwani kalla & Pawan Kalla) and two daughters (Radha & Dr. Rajani). He belongs to Pushkarna Brahmin community of Rajasthan and is affiliated to the Indian National Congress (INC) Party

Career

Dr. B.D. Kalla began his career in 1974 as a lecturer in a B.J.S.R. College in Bikaner. Later, in 1980 he was elected for the first time to represent Bikaner City in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. Later he represented the Bikaner City in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in 1985, 1990, 1998 and 2003. This continued for a total of five times till the year 2003. In 2008 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections, he has been defeated by Gopal Joshi of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Kalla served as the Minister for Secondary Education from 1990 and 2003 and did justice for his position with his previous experience in the education sector.

Dr. B.D. Kalla was also the Leader of the Opposition party from January 2004 to January 2006, as an active member of Indian National Congress in Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
