Congress core group
The Congress core group also known as Congress core committee was a group of people in the Indian National Congress.[1][2][3] It was chaired by the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi.
History
It was formed in 2004 to help the UPA government.[4] The first group consisted of Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Pranab Mukherjee, A. K. Antony, Arjun Singh and P. Chidambaram.[5] The group met every week to take stock of the situation and decide on important issues.

The group invited important people of the party to the meeting based on the issue.[6]
