Ashok Vihar

Ashok Vihar,^[1] Wazirpur is a posh residential hub in the North West district of Delhi. Situated along the Ring Road, Delhi, the locality is divided into 4 phases.It is home to a market called Deep Market which is also The Central Market.

Education

There are several schools in Ashok Vihar which include Mata Jai Kaur Public School, Kulachi Hansraj Model School, Montfort Senior Secondary School,D.A.V public School,^[2] Lions Public School, Presidium school and Maharaja Agarsain Public School. Also there are two colleges namely Satyawati College and Lakshmibai College which are affiliated to University of Delhi,^[3] are located here.^[4]

Parks and sports club

Ashoka Garden is Ashok Vihar's popular garden with early morning walkers, joggers and yoga groups. Ashoka Garden is spread over an area of 70 Acres.Other than Ashoka Garden, there are neighborhood parks in each block/ pocket / phase, there are two major parks namely - Baba Chaudhary Khimman Singh Park and Picnic Hut.

In addition to these parks,there is a sports complex named after Major Dhyan Chand which was established in the year 1991.It is spread over an area of 4.28 Hectare.It offers various facilities like Tennis (Synthetic, Hard, clay)/Tennis practice wall, Badminton (outdoor), Squash, Table Tennis Hall, Billiards/snooker, Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Children Park, Skating, Swimming / Toddlers Pool, Aerobics Hall, Taekwondo-Karate. Also coaching in most of these sports is also available. Also, it has a Pro Shop and Snack Bar. It hosts various competitive sports matches. Membership is open, easily available and is generally at a very nominal fee. There is deep market as specified above, which has in its vicinity various gyms, for fitness freaks, namely "The gym", "Ment-e-soul" "Health and fitness".

Apart from parks, there is a green belt which stretches from I block of Phase-1 till the I-A Block.

Transport

Ashok Vihar is well connected through road and public transport. Further, its connectivity has been enhanced by three Delhi Metro stations namely Keshav Puram, Kanhiya Nagar and Shalimar bagh two of them situated on Red Line. Delhi Transport Corporation buses No 166 (Shalimar Bagh to Palika Kendra), 181(A) (Jahangir Puri to Nizzamudin Rly. Station), 142 (Jahangir Puri to I.S.B.T.) and 235 (Wazirpur J.J. Colony to Nand Nagri), in addition Metro feeder bus service between Inderlok Metro Station to Azad Pur Metro Station is also available.

Shopping

There are many shops & showrooms in Ashok Vihar Consisting of many multi barnd outlets and branded showrooms like Adidas, Nike, levi's, titan eye, etc. Apart from this, every block has an adjoining market for residents to buy groceries, etc. Also many car showrooms like Honda, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Fiat etc. are located in Wazirpur Industrial area which is in close vicinity to Ashok Vihar making it one of the most diversified locations for car buyers. Eateries like Pizza Hut, Domino's, Subway, Cafe Coffee Day, Sagar Ratna, etc. are also present. Apart from these Restaurants such as Bellagio, Invitation and Kay's are also famous for their food.

Hospitals and dispensaries

The main hospitals are SunderLal Jain Hospital, Jivodaya Hospital and Deep Chand Bandhu Government Hospital. There are many specialist doctors working in poly clinics at deep market and around area, prominent being Agrawal Medical Centre in phase 2 with many superspecialist doctors . An Ayurvedic dispensary has been set up by Government of Delhi. Also, C.G.H.S. dispensary is located here. Aam Aadmi polyclinic set up by Delhi govt also functions smoothly here.
