Mosque-Madrassa of Al-Ashraf Barsbay or Al-Ashraf Mosque (Arabic: مسجد ومدرسة الأشرف برسباي) is a historical complex of mosque and madrasa located in Cairo, Egypt. The mosque is located on Muizz Street where it meets with Jawhar Al-Qaed Street. The Burji Mamluk Sultan Al-Ashraf Al-Barsbay begun its construction in 826 AH / 1424 AD. It is one of the three mosques established by Sultan Barsbay, and the second one is attached to the mausoleum, khanqah and Mamluk cemetery which was built in 841 AH / 1437 CE. These mosques are characterized by the beauty of its design and the marble and stained-glass windows. The complex consists of a rectangular shaped 1760 square meters building with orthogonal layout. This is in addition to the area of the other sections such as alley, office, library, mausoleum and student residence.[1]
