The 2020 NHL Entry Draft will be the 58th NHL Entry Draft. The draft is expected to be held in June 2020.

Eligibility

Ice hockey players born between January 1, 2000, and September 15, 2002, are eligible for selection in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Additionally, un-drafted, non-North American players born in 1999 are eligible for the draft; and those players who were drafted in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, but not signed by an NHL team and who were born after June 30, 2000, are also eligible to re-enter the draft.[1]

Traded picks

The order of the 2020 Entry Draft will be finalized upon the conclusion of the 2019–20 NHL season. However, some teams have already exchanged picks for this draft via trade. These picks are listed below.

Round two

  1. The Pittsburgh Penguins' second-round pick will go to the Vegas Golden Knights as the result of a trade on June 21, 2017 that ensured that Vegas selected Marc-Andre Fleury in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft from Pittsburgh in exchange for this pick.[2]
  2. The Dallas Stars' second-round pick will go to the Vegas Golden Knights as the result of a trade on June 26, 2017 that sent Marc Methot to Dallas in exchange for Dylan Ferguson this pick.[3]

Round three

  1. The Buffalo Sabres' third-round pick will go to the Carolina Hurricanes as the result of a trade on August 2, 2018 that sent Jeff Skinner to Buffalo in exchange for Cliff Pu, a second-round pick in 2019, a sixth-round pick in 2020 and this pick.[4]
  2. The Columbus Blue Jackets' third-round pick will go to the Ottawa Senators as the result of a trade on February 26, 2018 that sent Ian Cole to Columbus in exchange for Nick Moutrey and this pick.[5]

Round four

  1. The Winnipeg Jets' fourth-round pick will go to the Montreal Canadiens as the result of a trade on June 30, 2018 that sent Simon Bourque to Winnipeg in exchange for Steve Mason, Joel Armia, a seventh-round pick in 2019 and this pick.[6]

Round five

  1. The Ottawa Senators' fifth-round pick will go to the San Jose Sharks as the result of a trade on June 19, 2018 that sent Mikkel Boedker, Julius Bergman and a sixth-round pick in 2020 to Ottawa in exchange for Mike Hoffman, Cody Donaghey and this pick.[7]

Round six

  1. The Buffalo Sabres' sixth-round pick will go to the Carolina Hurricanes as the result of a trade on August 2, 2018 that sent Jeff Skinner to Buffalo in exchange for Cliff Pu, a second-round pick in 2019, a third-round pick in 2020 and this pick.[4]

1 Buffalo Sabres St. Louis Blues Buffalo will receive a first-round pick in 2020 if the Blues first-round pick in 2019 is inside of the top ten selections.[12] Buffalo acquired this pick in a trade on July 1, 2018 that sent Ryan O'Reilly to St. Louis in exchange for Vladimir Sobotka, Patrik Berglund, Tage Thompson, a second-round pick in 2021 and this conditional pick.[13]
3 Buffalo Sabres San Jose Sharks Buffalo will receive a third-round pick in 2020 if the Sharks elect to keep their fourth-round pick in 2019.[10] Buffalo acquired this pick in a trade on February 26, 2018 that sent Evander Kane to San Jose in exchange for Danny O'Regan a conditional first-round pick in 2019 and this conditional pick.[10]
5 Arizona Coyotes Columbus Blue Jackets Arizona will receive a fifth-round pick in 2020 if MacInnis plays in 20 or more games during the 2018–19 NHL season.[14] Arizona acquired this pick in a trade on July 18, 2018 that sent Ryan MacInnis to Columbus in exchange for Jacob Graves and this conditional pick.[14]
5 or 6 Edmonton Oilers St. Louis Blues Edmonton will receive a fifth-round pick in 2020 if Jerabek plays in 50 or more games during the 2018–19 NHL season. Otherwise this will remain a sixth-round pick in 2020.[15] Edmonton acquired this pick in a trade on October 1, 2018 that sent Jakub Jerabek to St. Louis in exchange for this conditional pick.[15]
