The 2018 season is the Washington Redskins' 86th in the National Football League and their fifth under head coach Jay Gruden. This is the first season since 2011 that quarterback Kirk Cousins is not on the roster, as he joined the Minnesota Vikings in the offseason as a free agent after the team acquired Alex Smith in a trade. With Smith, the team is looking to improve from its 7–9 record from the previous season and return to the playoffs for the first time in three seasons.
