Overview

The 2015 Netball Superleague season was the tenth season of the Netball Superleague. It was announced prior to the start of the season that Netball Superleague fixtures would be played to a finish in the 2015 season, meaning that games can no longer be tied. This conformed with current international standards.[1] If the scores are even after 60 minutes of play, the game will continue into extra-time consisting of two 7 minute halves. If the sides are still tied following extra-time, the game will continue until a team has moved ahead of the other, by two clear goals.

Broadcaster Sky Sports committed to a flexible schedule in all of their live broadcasts to ensure fans can watch entire games, including those that head into extra-time.[2] The first round of fixtures started on Monday 26 January 2015, with a repeat of the previous season's Grand Final, and once again Manchester Thunder got the better of Surrey Storm.[3]

The Manchester Thunder, Surrey Storm, Yorkshire Jets and Hertfordshire Mavericks secured the four play-off places, Manchester doing so by completing an unbeaten regular season, winning all fourteen games. However, Manchester suffered a shock defeat in the semi-finals in front of a club-record 4,000 fans at the Manchester Arena, losing 48-41 to the Mavericks. In the other semi-final, Surrey made it to their third final in four seasons with a 76-60 win over the Yorkshire Jets at Guildford's Surrey Sports Park.[4]

In the third-place play-off, Manchester Thunder powered to victory over Yorkshire Jets, winning 55-49.[5]

In the Grand Final, Surrey Storm beat Hertfordshire Mavericks, 56-39, at London's Copper Box Arena to win their first Superleague title.[6] Pamela Cookey was crowned Player of the Match.[7]
