Hwang Young-cho (Samchok, 22 maart 1970) is een Koreaans langeafstandsloper, die is gespecialiseerd in de marathon. Hij nam eenmaal deel aan de Olympische Spelen en won een gouden medaille bij die gelegenheid.

Hij is geboren in Zuid-Korea. Op 21-jarige leeftijd schreef hij op de Aziatische kampioenschappen al de 10.000 m op zijn naam. Toen hij in 1991 zijn eerste marathon gelijk won, besloot hij zich hierin te specialiseren. Op de Olympische Spelen van Barcelona in 1992 won hij een gouden medaille op de marathon.

Zijn trainer was Sohn Kee-chung, de winnaar van de Olympische Spelen in 1936. In 1996 trok Hwang zich uit de wedstrijdsport terug, nadat blessures hem het onmogelijk maakten zijn olympische titel te verdedigen. Hierna zette hij een punt achter zijn sportcarrière gezet.
