Derwent (Derbyshire)

Het eigenlijke dorp Derwent is in 1944 tezamen met het naburige Ashopton vernietigd om plaats te maken voor het Howden Reservoir en Ladybower Reservoir: na evacuatie van de bewoners heeft men het dorp onder water gezet. De kerktoren was al wat overbleef, doch in 1947 werd die om veiligheidsredenen opgeblazen.
Tijdens perioden van droogte zijn de restanten van de huizen zichtbaar. Na het droge zomerseizoen van 2018 kwamen de dorpen Derwent en Ladybower in de herfst bloot te liggen, hetgeen vele toeristen naar de ruïnes lokte.[1] De dorpen waren bedekt door een laag modder. Sommige toeristen pleegden vandalisme.[2]
