Zee Marathi

Zee Marathi is an Indian television channel which carries programming in Marathi, an Indian language spoken predominantly by the Marathi people of Maharashtra, west India. The channel was launched on 15 August 1999, and was known as Alpha Marathi until 2004 when it was renamed Zee Marathi.[5][6] Zee Marathi is the no. 1 regional Marathi channel in all genre (MGEC). It lives quite stable on its 1st position for Maharashtrian Audience as has been the undisputed leader in the genre for over 6 continuous years. The most popular of the channel are the daily soaps - Majhya Navryachi Bayko, Tujhyat Jeev Rangala and the reality show "Chala Hawa Yeu Dya" (Trans. Comical - Let in some air") which is also watched by Hindi audience as various Hindi celebrities are known to frequent it to promote their upcoming movies.

Annual events

Every year Zee Marathi hosts the Zee Marathi Awards and Zee Gaurav Puraskar. The Zee Marathi Awards celebrate excellence in television shows. Zee Gaurav Puraskar gives awards for excellence in Marathi theatre and cinema in various categories. In 2013, Zee Marathi launched the Unch Mazha Zhoka Puraskar as a platform to recognize the work of women across various fields and to bring out their outstanding stories to enlighten and enrich the people of Maharashtra.

About the group

Zee Marathi is part of Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEEL). ZEEL is the second-largest Indian media and entertainment company and is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra.[8] It is a subsidiary of the Essel Group. The company's chairman, managing director, and founder is Subhash Chandra, and its chief executive officer is Puneet Goenka. ZEEL claims that it reaches over 1.3 billion viewers across 173 countries.[9]
