ZEE5

ZEE5 is an Indian video on demand service run by Essel Group via its subsidiary Zee Entertainment Enterprises.[2] It was launched in India on 14 February 2018 with content in 12 languages.[3] ZEE5 mobile app is available on Web, Android, iOS, Smart TVs, among other devices.[4] ZEE5 had 56 million monthly active users in December 2019.[5]

The platform also provided the first Tamil web series in 2018 with the title America Mappillai.[6][7] In the same year, the platform also introduced another web series titles, Kallachirippu which was produced by popular filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj,[8][9] and Karenjit Kaur – The Untold Story of Sunny Leone, a biographical web series on Sunny Leone.

The service has been launched everywhere except for United States, because of Dish Network's clause in the contract ZEE has with the satellite provider, which is the major provider for Indian channels in the country.[10] ZEE5 has launched Ad Suite which has Ad Vault, Ampli5, Play5 and Wishbox.Zee5 is also available free on Vodafone Play(Subsidiary of Vodafone India) and Airtel Xstream(Subsidiary of Airtel India).Vodafone Idea joined with Zee5 and formed a new channel known as Zee5 Theater which airs the original movies and shows of Zee5 exclusively available in vodafone play and Idea mobile and Tv app.

In 2018, ZEE5 was launched with its existing roster of movies, and simultaneously was streaming original shows like America Mappillai, Life Sahi Hai, Karenjit Kaur – The Untold Story of Sunny Leone, which became an instant hit among the audience and kept producing more original shows.

The Will - a Hindi language play adapted from a Marathi language play named 'Kunitari Aahe Tithe' is available on ZEE5. Featuring - Sharmila Rajaram Shinde, Shriswara, Anil Charanjeett, Anjum Sharma, Namya Saxena, Pawan Chopra, Brijendra Kala, Vikram Kochchar. Directed by - Akhilesh Jaiswal, produced by Iris Productions.[11]
