Siya Kakkar

Siya Kakkar (11 March 2004 – 25 June 2020) was an Indian TikToker, Instagram model and dancer. She rose to prominence and gained popularity in social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.[2] She was well known for sharing music video clips of herself performing dance rituals. As of June 2020, she had around 1.1 million followers on TikTok. [3]

Death

She was reported to have committed suicide at her residence in Delhi on 25 June 2020 at the age of 16.[4][5] The Delhi police confirmed that the girl committed suicide at around 9pm in the night by hanging onto the ceiling fan at a room.[6] Her suicide was compared to the death of popular Indian Bollywood Star & actor Sushant Singh Rajput and her death sparked shock waves in the social media and also triggered debates, discussions regarding the depression suffered by young children and teenagers during the COVID-19 pandemic.[7] Prior to her death, she was believed to have uploaded her latest TikTok video within the space of 20 hours. Her death was also confirmed by her manager Arjun Sarin and she lived with her family until her demise.[8]
