It is one of 14 parishes in Charlotte County, formed in 1784 when New Brunswick was partitioned from Nova Scotia.[2] It included land that is now Saint Croix Parish until 1874.[3]
The local service district (LSD) of Saint Andrews Parish was created in 1970,[4] and replaced by Chamcook LSD in 1997.[5]
The census subdivision and local service district include the unincorporated settlement of Chamcook but not the incorporated town of Saint Andrews.
