Narsingdi Sadar Upazila

Narsingdi Sadar (Bengali: নরসিংদি সদর) is an Upazila of Narsingdi District[1] in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Geography

Narsingdi Sadar is located at 23.9167°N 90.7250°E / 23.9167; 90.7250. It has 81780 households and total area 213.44 km2.

Demographics

As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Narsingdi Sadar has a population of 451335. Males constitute 32.61% of the population, and females 67.39%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 226885. Narsingdi Sadar has an average literacy rate of 31% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.[2]

Narsingdi Sadar has 2 paorasava and 14 Unions/Wards, 203 Mauzas/Mahallas, and 270 villages.

Madhabdi is located in Narsingdi sadar upazila, Narsingdi district, Bangladesh. Madhabdi paorasava (municipal corporation) is one of the most famous trade centers for various kind of cloths. There are many textile mills and textile-related industries situated here.

Education

Many educational institutes are in this Upazila. Narsingdi Govt. College is the largest college of this Upazila. There is another Govt college in this upazila Named Narsingdi Govt. Mohila College. Brahmondi K K M Govt High School is the best school of this upazila situated in the center of Narsingdi. There is also Narsingdi Govt. Girls High School in Shatirpara. In spite of these there are many schools and colleges in this upazila. Abdul Kadir Mollah City College, N K M High School, Shatirpara K K Institute, Brahmondi Girsl High School, Narsingdi Model College, and Hazi Abed Ali College are well known institutes in Narsingdi Upazila.
