Maa Telugu Talliki

Maa Telugu Talliki (మా తెలుగు తల్లికి pronounced [maː teluɡu talliki], IAST: Mā Telugu Talliki; lit. ' "To Our Mother Telugu"'), originally Maa Tenugu Talliki is the official song of the State of Andhra Pradesh, one of the twenty-eight states of the Republic of India. The Telugu Thalli is portrayed as a symbol of Telugu people. Many schools and government events start with this song, showing respect to the Telugu language.

Background

It was written by Sankarambadi Sundaraachari and sung by Suryakumari[1] for the Telugu film Deena Bandhu (1942) which starred Chittor V. Nagaiah but was released as a private label by the artist. The song gained popularity and is sung at the start of social functions in Andhra Pradesh as it seemed to gather attention from the masses.

త్యాగయ్య గొంతులో తారాడు నాదాలు

రుద్రమ్మ భుజశక్తి మల్లమ్మ పతిభక్తి

Inspirations

It was ultimately recognized as the official song of the State.[4]

The song was used in the 1976 film Alludochadu featuring Ramakrishna and Jayasudha.

The song was used in 1985 film Bullet featuring Krishnam Raju and Suhasini.

The song was used in the 2010 film Leader featuring Rana Daggubati and Richa Gangopadhyay.
