List of people who are left-handed

This is a list of people who are left-handed, sorted by occupation. Left-handedness is a designation of human handedness where the left hand is more dominant in precision, speed, and ability; typically serving as the writing hand. Right-handedness is more prevalent in the world population, with estimates at 90% or more, making left-handedness a distinctive trait.[1] Urban legend has generated myriad theories about left-handed people's superior intellect, reduced longevity, or even likelihood of mental illness, though these theories have been proven inaccurate.[2][3][4]

Players that shoot from the left are common in ice hockey, with the National Hockey League's percentage ranging from 60-70% in any given season. However, the majority of these players are not naturally left-handed. Instead, players are taught to shoot with their non-dominant hand. For example, Canadian hockey players Sidney Crosby and Wayne Gretzky are well known for shooting left but are naturally right-handed. For this reason, only naturally left-handed players are included in this list, not those who shoot left.
