The Australian government has offered diplomatic representation in Brunei since March 1983, in anticipation of its independence, which was declared in January 1984.[1] between 1980 and 1982 the Commissioner to Brunei was resident in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.[2] The High Commission is located in Bandar Seri Begawan.
