KMLM-FM (107.3 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Grover Beach, California and broadcasting to the San Luis Obispo, California area.

History

New Rock 107.3

Until June 30, 2016, KURQ was a modern rock station branded as "New Rock 107.3". KURQ aired the syndicated morning program The Bob & Tom Show Monday to Saturday. During the nightly "Mandatory Metallica" segment, three Metallica songs played back to back. Another syndicated show, Loveline, aired Sunday through Thursday late nights.

KURQ continuously promoted local rock and modeling talent. Local artists from the San Luis Obispo area on the station's playlist included Still Time, Entoven, Malo Culo, New Tomorrow, 3's & 9's, and Siko. Each spring, KURQ released a CD titled "SLO & Dysfunctional" featuring local rock from the San Luis Obispo area. Each fall, New Rock 107.3 released a calendar, "The Ladies of The Central Coast"; the 2008 edition featured a variation, the "Hottest Bartenders on the Central Coast". KURQ's website featured "The Babe of The Day Page", which included assorted pictures of women wrestling in such substances as Jell-O, mashed potatoes, and K-Y Jelly.

Local specialty programming included the one and only punk rock show on the Central Coast called "The Punk Ass Bitches Show" with Stephanie, BJ, Tristan, Teresa & Taylor.

La M

On July 1, 2016 at midnight, KURQ dropped the modern rock format without warning and flipped to regional Mexican music branded as "La M 107.3", simulcasting sister station KMLA in Oxnard, California. This move resulted from a new local management agreement between El Dorado Broadcasting, which was in the process of divesting its Central Coast stations, and KMLA owner Gold Coast Radio LLC.[1][2] The New Rock website was replaced with a black screen, with the New Rock logo and the words "New Rock... out. It's been a great ride. Thanks for everything." In October, Gold Coast purchased KURQ from El Dorado for $600,000.[3] The station changed its call sign to the KMLM-FM on December 1.
