Islam in Bhutan
Islam has no recognition in Bhutan and is practised by just 7,200 people, where the constitution establishes the "Chhoe-sid-nyi" (dual system of religion and politics) of Bhutan as unified in the person of the King who, as a Buddhist, is the upholder of the Chhoe-sid (religion and politics; temporal and secular) and the protector of all religions in Bhutan.[1] In 2009, the Pew Research Center estimated based on 2005 data that 0.5% of the population, or 2,750 people, were Muslims.[2]
