Development

In January 2020, Fox announced its series' development.[2] In February, Fox ordered it to series, with Ken Jeong, a panelist on American version of another South Korean format, The Masked Singer—as the show's host and executive producer; joined by Craig Plestis as the executive producer.[3]

In May 2020, at during the broadcast of CBS late-night talk show The Late Late Show with James Corden, Jeong was demonstrated on Can They Sing? segment, which involves six staff members as mystery singers via teleconference, but the game mechanics were almost identical to ICSYV.[4]

Format

This program will feature contestants attempting to tell the difference between good and bad singers without ever hearing them. In each episode, the singers will participate in multiple lip sync challenges, after which the contestant will receive help from a panel of celebrities and a "musical superstar" in deciphering clues and other evidence. At the end of an episode, the contestant will choose one of the singers to perform a duet with, at which point the singer is revealed to be good or bad, and the contestant wins a cash prize.[5]
