Fahrettin Altay—Evka 3 Line

The Fahrettin Altay—Evka 3 Line, unofficially referred to as M1, is a 20.1 km long route of the Izmir Metro. It is the only operating line of the İzmir Metro system, although the construction of two new lines is expected to begin in 2018.[1] The line originally opened on 22 May 2000 and operated between Bornova and Üçyol. Between 2012 and 2014 the line was gradually expanded to its current route. The Fahrettin Altay—Evka 3 Line is the fourth rapid transit line to open in Turkey, after the M1 (1989) in Istanbul and Ankaray (1996) and the M1 (1997) in Ankara.
