Dead Lake Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.1 square miles (91 km²), of which 24.7 square miles (64 km²) of it is land and 10.4 square miles (27 km²) of it (29.71%) is water.

2010 census is 494 population.[4] At the 2000 census there were 452 people in 205 households, including 145 families, in the township. The population density was 18.3 people per square mile (7.1/km²). There were 524 housing units at an average density of 21.2/sq mi (8.2/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.89% White, 0.88% Native American, 0.22% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.44%.[1]

Of the 205 households 21.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.4% were married couples living together, 3.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.8% were non-families. 25.9% of households were one person and 12.2% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.20 and the average family size was 2.59.

The age distribution was 16.4% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 23.5% from 25 to 44, 32.3% from 45 to 64, and 22.8% 65 or older. The median age was 49 years. For every 100 females, there were 107.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 110.0 males.

The median household income was $31,786 and the median family income was $36,458. Males had a median income of $26,250 versus $21,875 for females. The per capita income for the township was $15,840. About 7.1% of families and 11.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.4% of those under age 18 and 6.5% of those aged 65 or over.
