Spencer Tate Adams (born April 13, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Chicago White Sox organization.

Adams attended White County High School in Cleveland, Georgia. He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the second round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft.[1][2] He signed with the White Sox, forgoing his commitment to play college baseball at the University of Georgia.[3]

Adams professional debut that season with the Arizona League White Sox,[4] where he finished the year with a 3.67 earned run average (ERA), 59 strikeouts and four walks in ​41 ²⁄₃ innings. Adams began the 2015 season with the Kannapolis Intimidators, and was later promoted to the Winston-Salem Dash; he finished the season with a combined 12-5 record and a 2.99 ERA in 24 starts between the two clubs. He spent 2016 with both the Dash and the Birmingham Barons, where he posted a combined 10-12 record with a 3.98 ERA over 27 total starts, and in 2017, he returned to Birmingham and spent the whole season there, posting a 7-15 record with a 4.42 ERA in 26 starts.[5]

In 2018, Adams pitched for both Birmingham and the Charlotte Knights, pitching to a combined 7-13 record with a 3.79 ERA in 28 starts between both teams.[6] He returned to Charlotte to begin 2019,[7] but pitched only 18 innings during the season due to injury.

Micker Antony Adolfo Zapata (born September 11, 1996) is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder in the Chicago White Sox organization.

Adolfo signed with the Chicago White Sox as an international free agent in July 2013.[8] He made his professional debut in 2014 for the AZL White Sox where he batted .218 with five home runs and 21 RBIs, and returned there in 2015, batting .253 in 22 games. In 2016, he played for the Kannapolis Intimidators where he slashed .219/.269/.340 with five home runs and 21 RBIs in 65 games. Adolfo returned to Kannapolis in 2017 where he batted .264 with 16 home runs and 68 RBIs in 112 games.[9] The White Sox added him to their 40-man roster after the 2017 season.[10]

Adolfo spent 2018 with the Winston-Salem Dash, slashing .282/.369/.464 with 11 home runs and 50 RBIs in 79 games.[11] He began 2019 with the Birmingham Barons,[12] but played in only 23 games with them (along with 13 rehab games) during the season to injury.

Luis Alexander Basabe (bah-sah'vay) is a Venezuelan professional baseball outfielder in the Chicago White Sox Minor League system. Listed at 6' 0" (1.83 m), 160 lb. (73 k), he is a switch hitter and throws right handed.[13]

The Red Sox signed Basabe as an international amateur free agent in 2012 out of Venezuela for $450,000, along with his twin brother, Luis Alejandro. Basabe gained attention from scouts due to his tool set at a young age, displaying plus speed, plus arm strength at center field, raw power, athleticism, plate discipline, and the ability to hit from both sides of the plate.[13]

From 2013–2015, the Basabes played together after signing in the Dominican Summer and Gulf Coast leagues. Alexander took a step ahead of Alejandro in 2014, while playing for the DSL Red Sox, where he posted a very solid slash line of .284/.408/.480 with 18 runs and 26 RBI over 148 at-bats in 40 games, and also drawn nearly as many walks (30) as strikeouts (36). Luis Alexander finished the year with the GCL Red Sox, hitting a .248/.328/.324 line in 32 games, before being promoted to the Lowell Spinners the next season.

Basabe hit .243/.340/.401 with 15 runs and 13 RBI in 56 games for the Spinners in 2015, tying for third with teammate Andrew Benintendi in the short-season New York–Penn League with seven home runs despite being its third-youngest regular at age 18 in a league full of former college players.[14] He continued to show consistent speed on the basepaths, as well, leading Lowell with 15 stolen bases.[15] That was also good for 10th in the NYPL. Besides, he became the first player in Lowell's 20-year history to homer from both sides of the plate in one game, doing so in June and again in July,[16] and also represented his team in the NYPL All-Star Game.[17]

Basabe opened 2016 at Low-A Class Greenville Drive, where he showed his potential and rare combination of power and speed in 105 games. Though he scuffled in the first half, Basabe emerged in the second half and hit 298/.361/.502, including a .363 average in the month of July, to bring his season line to .261/.328/.451, hitting 12 home runs and stealing 25 bases. In addition, he drove in 52 runs and scored 61 times.[13] Furthermore, he was selected to the South Atlantic League season-ending All-Star team.[13]

After being promoted to the Salem Red Sox for the last week of the season and postseason, Basabe seemed to be fitting right into High-A Class. In five games, he went 8-for-22 and slashed .364/.391/.545 with two doubles and one triple.[13] Overall, he ranked fourth among the Sox minor leaguers in steals, sixth in homers, seventh in runs, eighth in triples (8), and tenth in hits (104) and doubles (24).[18] He was eligible for selection in the Rule 5 draft in December.[13]

On December 6, 2016, Basabe was traded to the Chicago White Sox, along with Yoan Moncada, Michael Kopech, and Victor Diaz, for Chris Sale.[19] He spent his first season in the White Sox organization with the High-A Winston-Salem Dash where he batted .221 with five home runs and 36 RBIs.[20]

The White Sox added Basabe to their 40-man roster after the 2017 season.[10] He spent 2018 with Winston-Salem and the Double AA Birmingham Barons, slashing .258/.354/.445 with 15 home runs, 56 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases over 119 games. Basabe spent a majority of 2019 with Birmingham while also playing in five game with the Kannapolis Intimidators, batting .250 with three home runs over 74 games.

Dane Anthony Dunning (born December 20, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Chicago White Sox organization.

After graduating from Clay High School, Dunning played college baseball at the University of Florida.[21][22] After his junior year, he was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the first round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft.[23] He split time during his first professional season between the Gulf Coast League Nationals and the Auburn Doubledays where he posted a combined 3–2 record and 2.02 ERA in eight games between both teams.

On December 7, 2016 the Nationals traded Dunning, Reynaldo López, and Lucas Giolito to the Chicago White Sox for Adam Eaton.[24] For the 2017 season, the White Sox assigned Dunning to the Kannapolis Intimidators, and after he posted a 0.35 ERA in 26 innings, promoted him to the Winston-Salem Dash, where he spent the rest of the season, posting a 6-8 record and 3.51 ERA in 22 games started.[25] Dunning spent 2018 with both Winston-Salem and the Birmingham Barons, pitching to a combined 6-3 record and 2.71 ERA in 15 starts between both teams.[26]

Dunning underwent Tommy John surgery on March 18, 2019, after suffering a torn ulnar collateral ligament. His surgery was performed by James Andrews.[27] Dunning missed the entire 2019 season.[27] Dunning was added to the White Sox 40–man roster following the 2019 season.[28]

Bernardo Flores Jr. (born August 23, 1995) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Chicago White Sox organization.

Flores attended Baldwin Park High School in Baldwin Park, California and played college baseball at the University of Southern California (USC).[29] After the 2015 season, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[30] He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the seventh round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft.[31]

Flores made his professional debut in 2016 with the Arizona League White Sox and the Great Falls Voyagers, going 6–2 with a 3.46 ERA over 65 innings.[32] He split the 2017 season between the Kannapolis Intimidators and Winston-Salem Dash, going 10–7 with a 3.42 ERA over ​118 ¹⁄₃ innings. He split the 2018 season between Winston-Salem and the Birmingham Barons, going a combined 8–9 with a 2.65 ERA over 156 innings.[33] He split the 2019 season between the AZL, Kannapolis, and the Birmingham Barons, combining to go 3–8 with a 3.57 ERA over ​93 ¹⁄₃ innings.[33] After the 2019 season, he played in the Arizona Fall League for the Glendale Desert Dogs.[34]

Matthew James Foster (born January 27, 1995) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Chicago White Sox organization.

Foster attended Valley High School in Valley, Alabama.[36] He was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 29th round of the 2013 MLB draft, but did not sign.[37] He attended Gulf Coast State College for two years (2014-2015).[38] He then transferred to the University of Alabama, and played for the Crimson Tide for the 2016 season.[39] Foster was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 20th round of the 2016 MLB draft.[36]

Luis González (born September 10, 1995) is a Mexican professional baseball outfielder in the Chicago White Sox organization.

González attended Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson, Arizona and played college baseball at the University of New Mexico. He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the third round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft.[46][47]

González spent his first professional season with the Great Falls Voyagers and Kannapolis Intimidators,[48] batting .236 with two home runs and 15 RBIs in 67 games. He played 2018 with Kannapolis and the Winston-Salem Dash,[49] slashing a combined .307/.368/.498 with 14 home runs and 71 RBIs in 117 games between the two clubs.[50] He spent 2019 with the Birmingham Barons,[51] slashing .247/.316/.359 with nine home runs, 59 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases over 126 games.

Codi Dalton Heuer (born July 3, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Chicago White Sox organization.

Heuer was born and raised Missoula, Montana, before moving to Fort Collins, Colorado before he began high school.[52] Following the move, he attended Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins.[53] In 2015, his senior year, he threw a complete game shutout in which he struck out 17 batters, a school record.[54] He went undrafted in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, and thus enrolled at Wichita State University where he played college baseball for the Shockers.[55]

In 2016, his freshman season at Wichia State, he appeared in 21 games (making two starts) in which he went 1-1 with a 9.12 ERA in ​24 ²⁄₃ innings,[56] and as a sophomore in 2017, he pitched to a 2-2 record and 4.42 ERA in ​38 ²⁄₃ innings.[57] In 2018, his junior year, he was Wichita State's Friday night starter, going 6-5 with a 4.31 ERA over 16 games (15 starts).[58][59] After his junior year, he was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the sixth round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft.[60]

Heuer signed with the White Sox and made his professional debut with the Great Falls Voyagers.[61] He made 14 starts, going 0-1 with a 4.74 ERA over 38 innings, helping the Voyagers win the Pioneer League crown.[62] In 2019, he moved to the bullpen, and began the year with the Winston-Salem Dash before being promoted to the Birmingham Barons in June.[63] Over 42 relief appearances between the two clubs, Heuer went 6-4 with a 2.39 ERA, striking out 65 over ​67 ²⁄₃ innings.

James Michael Lambert (born November 18, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Chicago White Sox organization.

Lambert attended San Dimas High School in San Dimas, California. As a senior, he compiled a 13-1 record with a 1.18 ERA, striking out 80 batters in 94 innings.[64] He was not drafted out of high school in the 2013 MLB draft and enrolled at Fresno State University where he played college baseball for the Fresno State Bulldogs. As a sophomore at Fresno State in 2015, he posted a 4-2 record and a 4.66 ERA in 17 games (13 starts).[65] In 2016, as a junior at Fresno State, he was named the Mountain West Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year (alongside Griffin Jax) after compiling an 8-0 record and a 2.65 ERA in ten conference starts.[66] He finished with an overall record of 10-2 with a 3.13 ERA over 15 games as a starter.[67] After his junior year, he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the fifth round of the 2016 MLB draft[68] and he signed for $325,000.[69]

After signing, Lambert made his professional debut with the AZL White Sox, and he was promoted to the Kannapolis Intimidators during the season. In 15 games (13 starts) between the two clubs, he was 1-6 with a 5.26 ERA. Lambert began 2017 with Kannapolis, and after going 7-2 with a 2.19 ERA in 12 starts, earning him a South Atlantic League All Star selection, he was promoted to the Winston-Salem Dash in June.[70] He finished the season with Winston-Salem, pitching to a 5-4 record with a 5.45 ERA in 14 starts.[71] In 2018, he began the year with Winston-Salem, and after going 5-7 with a 3.95 ERA in 13 starts, he was promoted to the Birmingham Barons.[72] In five starts for Birmingham, he was 3-1 with a 2.88 ERA.[73] He returned to Birmingham in 2019,[74] going 3-4 with a 4.55 ERA over 11 starts.

Kade Robert McClure (born February 12, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Chicago White Sox organization.

McClure attended Mentor High School in Mentor, Ohio, where he played baseball and basketball.[77][78] As a junior in 2013, McClure went 10-1 with a 0.88 ERA and 83 strikeouts over ​71 ²⁄₃ innings.[79] Although McClure was expected to be selected in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft,[80][81] he went undrafted and thus enrolled at the University of Louisville where he played college baseball.

In 2015, McClure's freshman season at Louisville, he appeared in 16 games (four starts) in which he compiled a 1-1 record with a 4.18 ERA.[82] As a sophomore in 2016, he pitched in 15 games (making 13 starts) and went 12-0 with a 2.54 ERA, garnering a 0.88 WHIP while striking out 77 batters over 78 innings,[83][84] earning All-American honors.[85] Following the season, he played in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Brewster Whitecaps.[86] As a junior in 2017, McClure was Louisville's number two starter.[87] For the year, he started 18 games, pitching to an 8-4 record with a 3.58 ERA, compiling 111 strikeouts over 103 innings.[88] Following the season, he was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the sixth round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft.[89][90][91]

McClure signed with the White Sox[92] and made his professional debut with the Arizona League White Sox before earning a promotion to the Great Falls Voyagers in July. In August, he was promoted to the Kannapolis Intimidators.[93] Over 11 innings pitched between the three teams, he gave up one run while striking out 19.[94][95] He began the 2018 season with Kannapolis, but his season was cut short after eight starts due to a knee injury that required surgery.[96][97] Over those eight starts, he went 3-1 with a 3.02 ERA, striking out 42 batters over ​41 ²⁄₃ innings.[98][99][100] McClure returned healthy in 2019 and began the season back with Kannapolis[101] before being promoted to the Winston-Salem Dash in June.[102] Over 22 starts, he pitched to a 4-6 record with a 3.25 ERA, compiling 99 strikeouts and a 1.22 WHIP over ​121 ²⁄₃ innings.[103]

Yermín Francisco Mercedes (born February 14, 1993) is a Dominican professional baseball catcher in the Chicago White Sox organization.

Mercedes signed as an international free agent with the Washington Nationals on March 3, 2011.[105] He spent the 2011, 2012, and 2013 seasons with the DSL Nationals and was released following the 2013 season.[106] Mercedes spent the 2014 season in independent baseball. He played for the Douglas Diablos and the White Sands Pupfish of the Pecos League, and for the San Angelo Colts of the United League Baseball.[106] He signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles following the 2014 season.[106] He spent the 2015 season with the Delmarva Shorebirds, hitting .272/.302/.456/.758 with 8 home runs and 42 RBI. He split the 2016 season between Delmarva and the Frederick Keys, hitting a combined .345/.404/.570/.974 with 20 home runs and 77 RBI. Mercedes was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the minor league portion of the 2017 Rule 5 draft.[107][108] He spent the 2018 season with the Winston-Salem Dash, hitting .289/.362/.478/.840 with 14 home runs and 64 RBI. He split the 2019 season between the Birmingham Barons and the Charlotte Knights, combining to hit .317/.388/.581/.968 with 23 home runs and 80 RBI.[109]

Jonathan Stiever (born May 12, 1997) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Chicago White Sox organization.

Stiever attended Cedarburg High School in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, where he played football and baseball, earning All-State honors in both sports his senior year.[111] In 2015, his senior baseball season, he went 7-1 with a 1.90 ERA.[112] Undrafted in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, he enrolled at Indiana University where he played college baseball.

In 2016, Stiever's freshman year at Indiana, he made 18 appearances (four starts), going 1-1 with a 2.47 ERA while striking out thirty over forty innings of work.[113] That summer, he played in the New England Collegiate Baseball League with the Vermont Mountaineers.[114][115] As a sophomore at Indiana in 2017, he started 14 games, pitching to a 4-4 record and a 4.13 ERA over 77 innings. Following the year, he played in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Brewster Whitecaps.[116] In 2018, Stiever's junior season, he went 5-6 with a 3.41 ERA over 16 starts, striking out 97 over 100 innings.[117] After the season, he was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the fifth round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft.[118]

Stiever signed with the White Sox and made his professional debut with the Great Falls Voyagers, going 0-1 with a 4.18 ERA over 13 starts.[119][120] In 2019, he began the year with the Kannapolis Intimidators before earning a promotion to the Winston-Salem Dash in June.[121] Over 26 starts between both clubs, Stiever went 10-10 with a 3.48 ERA, striking out 154 batters over 145 innings.[122] He was named MLB Pipeline's White Sox Pitching Prospect of the Year.[123]

Damek Tomscha (born August 27, 1991) is an American professional baseball third baseman in the Chicago White Sox organization.

Tomscha attended North High School in Sioux City, Iowa, and graduated in 2010. He was named the state's high school baseball player of the year.

The Phillies selected Tomscha in the 50th round of the 2010 MLB draft. He did not sign and enrolled at Iowa Western Community College. The Florida Marlins then selected Tomscha in the 36th round of the 2011 MLB draft,[124] and the Chicago Cubs chose him in the 19th round of the 2012 MLB draft, but he did not sign either time, turning down a $160,000 signing bonus offer from Chicago. Instead, he transferred to Auburn University and played for two seasons for the Auburn Tigers.[125]

The Phillies selected Tomscha in the 17th round, with the 502nd overall selection, of the 2014 MLB draft, and he signed.[126] He played for the Lakewood BlueClaws of the Class A South Atlantic League in 2015,[127][128] and was again assigned to Lakewood in 2016.[129] In 2017, he began the season with the Clearwater Threshers of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League, and was promoted to the Reading Fightin Phils of the Class AA Eastern League.[130][131] He began the 2018 season with Reading and was promoted to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs of the Class AAA International League.[132] In 2019, he began the season with Lehigh Valley, hitting .219/.301/.399 with 19 RBIs across 53 games before he was released on June 20, 2019.

On June 28, 2019, Tomscha signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox and was assigned to the Double-A Birmingham Barons, with whom he batted .269/.333/.410 in 156 at bats.[133]

Yeyson Yrizarri Cruz (born February 2, 1997) is a Venezuelan-born Dominican professional baseball shortstop and second baseman in the Chicago White Sox organization.

Yrizarri signed with the Texas Rangers for a $1.375 million signing bonus in July 2013 . He made his professional debut in 2014, playing for both the DSL Rangers and AZL Rangers, compiling a combined .249 batting average with one home run and 25 RBIs in 60 total games between both teams. He spent 2015 with the Spokane Indians where he batted .265 with two home runs and 29 RBIs in 62 games. He was selected to appear in the All-Star Game.[134] He also played nine games for the Round Rock Express that year due to injures.[135][136]

In 2016, Yrizarri played for the Hickory Crawdads[137] where he collected a .269 batting average with seven home runs nd 53 RBIs. He began 2017 with the Hickory and was promoted to the Down East Wood Ducks in earlu July.

On July 15, 2017, Yrizzari was traded to the Chicago White Sox for an international bonus slot.[138] Chicago assigned him to the Winston-Salem Dash and he finished the season there. In 113 total games between the three teams, he slashed .268/.290/.380 with eight home runs and 48 RBIs.[139]

He returned to Winston-Salem to begin the 2018 season.

Yrizarri's uncle, Deivi Cruz, played in Major League Baseball.[135]
