African Americans in Georgia (U.S. state)

African-American Georgians are residents of the U.S. state of Georgia who are of African American ancestry. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, African Americans were 31.2% of the state's population.[1] Slaves came from Angola, Sierra Leone, and the Gambia.[2] Slaves worked on cotton and rice plantations for white slave owners.[3]
