2020 Copa do Brasil
The 2020 Copa do Brasil (officially the Copa Continental Pneus do Brasil 2020 for sponsorship reasons)[1] is the 32nd edition of the Copa do Brasil football competition. It will be held between 5 February and 16 September 2020. The competition is contested by 91 teams, either qualified by participating in their respective state championships (70), by the 2020 CBF ranking (10), by the 2019 Copa do Nordeste (1), by the 2019 Copa Verde (1), by the 2019 Série B (1) or those qualified for 2020 Copa Libertadores (8).

The winners of the 2020 Copa do Brazil will qualify for the 2021 Copa Libertadores group stage.[2]
Athletico Paranaense are the defending champions.
On 15 March 2020, CBF suspended the Copa do Brasil indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil.[3]
Format
The competition is a single-elimination tournament, the first two stages featuring a single match and the other stages featuring two-legged ties. Eleven teams qualified for the Round of 16 (Teams qualified for 2020 Copa Libertadores (8), Série B champions, Copa Verde champions and Copa do Nordeste champions). The remaining 80 teams play the first stage. The 40 winners will play the second stage, the 20 winners will play the third stage, the 10 winners will play the fourth stage. Finally, the five fourth-stage winners will qualify for the Round of 16.[2]
Qualified teams
Teams in bold are qualified directly for the round of 16.
- a Bonsucesso (2019 Copa Rio champions) declined to participate in the Copa do Brasil. They were replaced by the 3rd place Boavista.[4]
- b Due to the partnership between Red Bull and Clube Atlético Bragantino, in the 2020 season the team was renamed as Red Bull Bragantino.[5]
- c Red Bull Brasil (2019 Campeonato Paulista do Interior champions) lost their berth due the partnership between Red Bull and Red Bull Bragantino. They were replaced by the runners-up Ponte Preta.[6]
- d Associação Desportiva Frei Paulistano was renamed as Associação Desportiva Freipaulistano on 22 April 2019.[7]

Draw
The draw for the first and second stage was held on 12 December 2019, 14:00 at CBF headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.[9] Teams were seeded by their CBF ranking (shown in parentheses). The 80 qualified teams were divided in eight groups (A-H) with 10 teams each. The matches were drawn from the respective confronts: A vs. E; B vs. F; C vs. G; D vs. H. The lower ranked teams hosted the first stage match. Teams highlighted in bold are still active in the competition.
First stage
In the first stage, each tie was played on a single match basis. The lower CBF ranked team hosted the match. If tied, the higher CBF ranked team would advance to second stage.[2]
Second stage
In the second stage, each tie was played on a single match basis. If tied, extra time would not be played and the penalty shoot-out would be used to determine the winner.[2]
Third stage
In the third stage, each tie will be played on a home-and-away two-legged basis. If tie on aggregate, the away goals rule will not be used, extra time will not be played and the penalty shoot-out will be used to determine the winner.[2]
