Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku (ヲタクに恋は難しい, Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii) is an upcoming 2019 Japanese film based on the webmanga series of the same name.[1] Directed by Yuichi Fukuda, distributed by Toho and Paramount Pictures, starring Mitsuki Takahata and Kento Yamazaki. It was scheduled to release on Japanese theaters in 2019.[2][3][4]

Plot

Narumi Momose is a female office worker who hides her fujoshi otaku lifestyle. When in her new workplace Narumi meets her old childhood friend, Hirotaka a handsome and capable company man who is a game otaku. The two seem perfect for each other, but love is difficult for otaku.

Production

On July 26, 2018, a video promoting the sixth volume of the manga revealed that a live-action movie adaptation was in production.[6]

On September 18, 2018, the cast for a live action was announced it will stars Mitsuki Takahata and Kento Yamazaki as double lead to play Narumi and Hirotaka.[7]

First filming began on October 3, 2018 took place in Kanagawa Prefecture, Kawasaki city, Japan at Sake Dojo Jinya Nakamoto store.[8][9]
