WFAI (1510 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Salem, New Jersey, and serving South Jersey and Northern Delaware, including the Wilmington radio market. It broadcasting an urban contemporary gospel radio format. WFAI is owned and operated by the Delmarva Broadcasting Company, a subsidiary of Steinman Enterprises, a family-owned newspaper, broadcasting and mining company, based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.[1]

AM 1510 is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A WLAC in Nashville. So WFAI is a daytime only station. It must sign-off at night to avoid interfering with WLAC. By day, it is powered at 2,500 watts.

History

The station signed on in 1966 as WJIC ("Jersey Information Center"). It aired middle of the road (MOR) music and information. From 1981 to the early 1990s, WJIC featured a country music format as "Just Country WJIC", then changed to a talk radio and information format, calling itself "News/Talk 1510."

On October 1, 1997, WJIC, which was co-owned with WNNN on 101.7 FM, took over the FM station's religious format and adopted the WNNN call sign. On May 3, 2001, the call letters were changed to WFAI to reflect the new slogan "Faith 1510."[2]
