With a 150-year long tradition Vojvođanska banka is successfully operating in Serbia and represents one of the most recognized local brands in the country. Vojvođanska banka is among the top ten largest banks in Serbia by asset size. With the fourth largest network in Serbia, four regional business centers for small and medium-sized enterprises and with over a million clients, Vojvođanska banka covers the entire territory of the country.

In 2006, in a privatization process the Bank was sold to the National Bank of Greece Group. On 1 December 2017, OTP banka Srbija announced the completion of acquisition of 100% ownership of Vojvođanska banka and in this way the Bank became a member of OTP Bank Group, the largest financial service provider in Hungary and a dominant regional player in the Central and Eastern European market as well. This marks the beginning of the creation of a strong, integrated bank offering a full spectrum of advanced financial products and services.

OTP banka Srbija presently encompasses 52 branches and 119 ATMs, while Vojvođanska banka gathers 104 branches and 137 ATMs. Once integrated, the bank will be the seventh in Serbia by size of assets and the third largest bank according to the number of branches and will comprise over 5 % of the whole financial Serbian market. It is expected that the merger process will last until spring 2019.

History

The first branch of Vojvodjanska banka was founded in 1868 in Sombor as a credit cooperative. Later, in 1962, Vojvodjanska banka was repackaged as Privredna banka; soon after, Privredna banka was joined by Komercijalna banka Senta, Komercijalna banka Bačka Topola, Sremska banka Sremska Mitrovica, Kreditna banka Kula and Banatska banka Zrenjanin. In 1973, Privredna banka became Vojvođanska banka, the largest banking institution in the province of Vojvodina and one of the largest in the country. It had 16 branches.

In the end of the 1970s, Bank opened three independent representative offices in New York City, London and Frankfurt; and joint representative offices established in Moscow, Beijing and Tehran.

In the 1980s, Vojvođanska Bank became a member of the Yugoslav Banking Consortium for the realization of the first loan granted by IFC for the development of small companies; and Associate Bank realized 70% of the total foreign exchange operations of Vojvodina economy. In 1989, the Bank split up into 9 equal successors; the Head Office and 8 branches. Later, during the 1990s, bank starter to open more branches in Central Serbia, Banja Luka (in Republika Srpska) and in Podgorica (Montenegro). The branch office in Banja Luka became an independent bank with the major equity share in private ownership. Vojvodjanska banka was the co-founder and shareholder of VB Banja Luka.

From 1995, Vojvodjanska banka d.d. became Vojvodjanska banka a.d. (joint-stock company). Republic of Serbia owns 99.42% of shares.[2]

In September 2006, National Bank of Greece bought 99.44% of Vojvođanska banka's capital for 385 million. In Serbian retail banking market, it is the first in Serbian Dinars savings, third in foreign currency savings and first according to the number of issued VISA cards – over 430,000.[3]

In December 2017, OTP banka Srbija bought 100% of shares of Vojvođanska banka from the National Bank of Greece.[4] The complete transfer is expected to be finished by spring 2019.[4]

Corporate Social Responsibility

Vojvođanska banka is the official bank of the Olympic Committee of Serbia and the Serbian National Team for the fifth consecutive cycle and it supports the best athletes of Serbia (since 2004). In addition to donations intended for various organisations, social groups, institutions of culture in the form of computers and financial assistance, the Bank is also the donor of project “Budi svoj” (English for “Be Yourself”) for the social inclusion and successful growing up of children without parental care. The program is intended for young people between 15 and 19 years of age, who commence an independent life after living in institutions and foster families. The project aims to motivate this group of young people to increase their interest in further education and face their independence more prepared, as well as to increase their chances for employment.

Logos

The first logo of Vojvođanska banka has designed in 1962. It contained the two upper-case Latin letters V and B like the geometric shape, where the letter V was shaped as parallelogram and the letter B was shaped as two halves of circle. This logo of the Bank was in use until 1973. From 1973, the Vojvođanska banka logo contained the two lower-case Latin letters v and b, where the letter v was smaller than the letter b and the first letter was placed above the second letter. This logo of the Bank was in use until 1992, and it was replaced by the current Vojvođanska banka logo similar to the American dollar sign which contains the two upper-case Cyrillic letters В and Б, where the letter В is reversed and touches the letter Б. From 2017, the Hungarian OTP Group bought this Bank and changing of name is also possible.
