Vijay Shankar Vyas

Vijay Shankar Vyas was a noted agricultural economist of India. He had authored six books. He hailed from Pushkarna Brahmin community in Bikaner.

Career

Professor Vijay Shankar Vyas (21 August 1931-12 September 2018) has been the Director of IIM, Ahmedabad; IDS, Jaipur and Senior Advisor, Agriculture and Rural Development Department, the world Bank. Professor Vyas was Emeritus Professor at the Institute of Development Studies, Jaipur. He was a member of the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India.

Education

He has authored / co-authored as many as 6 books and published numerous articles in National and International Journals of repute. Prof. Vyas has been invited to deliver lectures and keynotes in many workshops and seminars in India and abroad. [1] The contribution has made him an honorary life member of International Association of Agricultural Economists. He has been elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences. [2]

Awards

He received Padma Bhushan award in 2006 from the Government of India.[3] Vyas has been honoured by the award by the President of India on Republic Day. [4] Vyas has and is serving as ChairmanMember of Boards , at the International , National and State Level. [5]
