Veppanthattai taluk

Veppanthattai is a taluk of Perambalur district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The headquarters of the taluk is the town of Veppanthattai. It is a main junction for veppanthattai to Valikandapuram, veppanthattai to V. Kalatthur, Veppanthattai to Annamangalam. It has many Government office like Taluk office, Register Office, Zonal Educational Office, Treasury, Govt Veterinary Hospital, Central Govt cotton Resacrch Center and New Govt College. Transport Buses running from chinnasalem to perambalur. And chinnasalem to tirupathi bus available at ( 5.30pm and 8pm at chinnasalem, 5.20am at tirupathi) Main businesses of peoples are farming, labour, etc.

Train

The Chinnasalem town's railway station serves trains on the route to Mettur, Cuddalore, Nagore, Pondicherry, Salem, Coimbatore, Mangalore, Bangalore, Chennai and Dadar.

Demographics

According to the 2011 census, the taluk of Veppanthattai had a population of 148,700 with 73,598 males and 75,102 females. There were 1020 women for every 1000 men. The taluk had a literacy rate of 65.36. Child population in the age group below 6 was 7,906 Males and 7,266 Females.[1]
