Urmar also spells as Urmer is a village located on the outskirts of Peshawar city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.[1] It is also called Urmar Payan surrounded by two smaller villages with the similar names Urmer Bala and Urmer Miana.[2][3]

Overview and History

The area which is called locally Urmar comprises three villages: Urmar Payan, Urmar Miana and Urmar Bala. Agriculture is the main source of income and the agriculture land of Urmar village is very fertile.[4] All 3 villages, Urmar payan, Urmar Miana and Urmar Bala have farms of orchards of plum, pear and peach.[5][6]

Urmar Payan and Urmar Bala were established in 1893 after the migration of Urmers tribe from Afghanistan to Peshawar. The villages were part of Nowshera District during British Raj times but now part of Peshawar District.[1]

Administration

Urmar is part of Pakistan National Assembly seat NA-4 (Peshawar-4) while for KP Provincial Assembly it is part of PF-11 (Peshawar-11).[2]

Population

According to 1998 consensus, the population of Urmar Payan was 19261, Urmar Bala was 24007 and Urmar Miana was 18992.[7]
