Plot

The story revolves around a beautiful young girl Pankti Sharma (Jannat Zubair Rahmani) and Ahaan Dhanrajgir (Ritvik Arora), a handsome kind-hearted musician who is struggling to succeed because of his straightforwardness and anger management issues. Ahaan and Pankti fall in love with each other. But life doesn't seem easy to them. Pankti's mother Anita Sharma (Gauri Pradhan Tejwani) is a failed actress of her time and has no money to fulfill her wishes. She is a self-obsessed woman that can do anything for money. So she has sold her own daughter Pankti to the rich and cruel man Jayant Dhanrajgir (Rahil Azam) a.k.a JD, in order to live a luxurious life, forcing her daughter to become a mistress of a manipulative married man who tortures Pankti and makes her life a living hell. He manipulates her in every way and rarely lets her leave her house alone. Ahaan, who happens to be JD's nephew, appears in Pankti's life with an intention to save her and make her dreams come true.

Ahaan fell madly in love with Pankti after their first meeting in the rain but she wasn't ready due to fear and her reality of being a mistress. Ahaan convinces Pankti and she slowly starts falling in love with him, but she discovers her culprit JD is Ahaan's uncle who he looks up to. She tries to hide this fact from Ahaan to save him from getting hurt but the truth eventually comes out. Ahaan is disgusted that he looked up to JD, and after many struggles frees Pankti by buying her freedom from JD. JD acts like he has changed but he secretly tries getting Pankti to become his mistress again. Simultaneously, Pankti's elder sister Poorva (Nidhi Shah) finds love in Monty Shetty (Kiran Raj) after her mother sells her to him, because he doesn't disrespect or abuse her. Monty also falls in love with Poorva.

Pankti is defamed in front of the family due to one of JD's plans, and the family slowly learns to accept Pankti and the whole family finds out the truth of JD. This shatters Ahaan's heart as he believed his uncle had changed for the better and gave him a second chance. Sheetal threatens to file divorce, however JD makes her sign a will putting the whole property under his name, and tries to kill her. Sheetal escapes but slips into a coma, in which JD tries to kill her with the help of the family doctor. Pankti now pursues her singing career with Ahaan's support amidst this Anita turns positive. This happiness is short lived however, as JD posts indecent photos of Pankti. Pankti feels destroyed but Ahaan supports her and they run away to live a new life where no one knows them. JD threatens Anita to tell the police that Ahaan has kidnapped Pankti or her will take Poorva's life. Ahaan and Pankti are given shelter in a village where the housemaid of Anita lives. The housemaid helps them through their struggles when JD comes to know where they are located. They escape from JD again and go to Uday's house, Ahaan's best friend and manager; where Ahaan's plan to keep Pankti as he lies that she has disappeared to keep JD away from Pankti. Ahaan - Pankti and Monty - Purva are getting married on 27th August 2018.

Ahaan then tries to clear Pankti's name by lying about the indecent photos of Pankti being fake on a talkshow, but Pankti appears on the talkshow and clears her own name by telling the truth and showing her pain that someone would take pictures of her when she was unconscious, innocent and vulnerable, she doesn't say JD's name in order to protect the Dhanrajgir family name from society. JD is relieved that she doesn't say his name. After this Ahaan and Pankti go to Ahaan's house, and the family witness Sheetal waking up from her coma. JD makes an elaborate plan in order to separate Ahaan and Pankti, he wants Ahaan to shoot him with a fake bullet and go to jail, but instead Sheetal shoots JD with intentions to kill him unknowing that this is all JD's plan. JD doesn't mind Sheetal going to jail either because he also wants to get rid of her.

JD comes back into the lives of Ahaan and Pankti wearing a mask under the persona Reyansh Diwan (Raqesh Vashisth) because everyone believes JD is dead. JD as Reyansh tries to separate Ahaan and Pankti by befriending them. Ahaan and Pankti go with Reyansh to London for a concert, where a guy in a hoodie tries to harm Ahaan. Sheetal is bailed, and realizes JD is alive under the identity of Reyansh, she tries to warn Ahaan and Pankti. JD notices that Sheetal knows his truth therefore he threatens Sheetal that he will harm the family, if she does not follow his instructions of remaining silent about his truth and going abroad after putting the whole property on his name. Sheetal sends a message in a hurry but is unable to type properly. JD kidnaps Sheetal.

After many problems Pankti starts doubting that someone is trying to harm her and her loved ones on purpose, Ahaan doesn't understand this, her worry and Ahaan's behaviour combined with his nature of not being able to control his anger causes misunderstandings in their relationship. Ahaan and Pankti record a male solo and a female solo of the same song; "Rubaru", both of which are supposed to be released on the same day, but JD (as Reyansh) uploads Pankti's version of the song earlier on her social media account in order to cause another rift between them. Ahaan believes Pankti leaked her version of the song first so that she could garner attention and fame. Pankti finds evidence against Reyansh, causing her to doubt him and believe that he is the same person who tried to harm Ahaan in London.

Ahaan realizes he is wrong for hurting Pankti and doubting her when he also thinks Reyansh is up to something. He tells Pankti he will help her expose Reyansh. Pankti sets up a trap for Reyansh, during which Sheetal's last message is decoded as "JD is Reyansh." Pankti pulls off the mask of Reyansh (while he is unconscious) and is shocked to see JD. Pankti pretends she doesn't know Reyansh's secret. Ahaan and Pankti plan to save Sheetal, reveal JD's truth to the world and punish him.

JD finds out that Pankti knows his secret, and kidnaps Ahaan in order to force Pankti to become his mistress again. Pankti, Vikram and Uday defeat JD and free Ahaan and Sheetal. JD gets arrested, and the family celebrate. Sheetal goes to London to relax and get over everything that happened. Ahaan and Pankti spend some romantic time together. Vikram takes over JMD music company as the chairman due to JD being arrested.

Ahaan and Pankti meet a famous singer Rangoli Rai (Krissann Barretto), who has two different sides to her. Rangoli acts as if she is nice around everyone and in the spotlight but behind closed doors is obsessed with herself and her fame. Vikram's jealousy grows against Ahaan as people give Ahaan more attention in the press conference; therefore instead of launching Ahaan as JMD's new face, he launches Rangoli Rai as JMD's new face. Ahaan is challenged by Anita to buy Pankti a house with his own money in order to marry her, and Ahaan accepts. Pankti tries to start her singing career again but is only offered to sing a scratch track that the main singer will record. Rangoli tries to get close to Ahaan. Pankti struggles as people in the music industry remind her of her past of being a mistress and either try to touch her or get favours in order for her to get a job or tell her that her reputation will bring the company sales down. Anita tries to sell Pankti before Ahaan can buy her a house. Ahaan becomes friends with Rangoli and starts worrying about Rangoli's safety.

Pankti sings a scratch song "Sajna Piya" (which she doesn't know is being sung for JMD), and the music directors appreciate her voice and tell her one day she will be a main singer. Rangoli comes to sing the final recording of "Sajna Piya", but she can't hit any notes right. The music directors think that Pankti's voice is better, so Rangoli gets offended and leaves telling the music directors to record the final song with Pankti. Before Pankti starts recording the final song Vikram enters and asks for 5 Lakh in order to become a member of JMD before she can sing the song, otherwise she won't be able to. Pankti leaves because she doesn't have the money. Vikram reminds the music director of the deadline and leaves, and the music director is left with no choice other than begging Rangoli to sing the final track. Rangoli sets to take everything away from Pankti as revenge because the music directors were praising Pankti's voice over her own. Ahaan and Pankti have a fight because Ahaan fights with the member board and they ban her from singing a recording for 6 months. Ahaan organizes a concert for Pankti, because the board cannot ban her from singing live.

Rangoli stops Pankti's concert that Ahaan organized from happening. A new concert is set up for a charity in which Rangoli, Ahaan and Pankti will all sing, and will be sponsored by KK. Pankti and Ahaan rehearse a duet, and Rangoli rehearses a self-titled song for the event for the concert. Rangoli blames KK for molesting her when she does not get her way with him, and Pankti finds out that Rangoli has a history of blaming men for molestation after they decline her wishes. KK warns Pankti that once Ahaan declines her of something she will blame him for molestation and ruin his career. After the charity concert, Rangoli is upset that she couldn't stop Pankti's voice from reaching the audience. Fans praise Pankti's voice over Rangoli's therefore Vikram decides to sign both Ahaan and Pankti for the benefit of JMD, which causes Rangoli to threaten to leave JMD.

Rangoli dreams about being Ahaan's love interest and plans to separate Ahaan and Pankti. Rangoli and Ahaan start getting multiple offers to sing together, and with the help of Uday, Pankti discovers what Rangoli is planning to do. Ahaan doesn't believe Pankti or Uday when she tries to expose Rangoli. Pankti gets upset seeing Ahaan with Rangoli, and seeing that he doesn't trust her more than Rangoli. Pankti decides to gather evidence against Rangoli. Rangoli plans to break the Dhanrajgir family alliance with the Sharma family to make it easier for her to cause the break up of Ahaan and Pankti, but the misunderstandings are cleared and her plan fails.

The wedding of Ahaan and Pankti is set on the same day as Monty and Poorva. Monty and Poorva get married, but before Ahaan and Pankti can complete the wedding rituals Rangoli files a complaint in the police station accusing Ahaan of rape. Ahaan is sent to jail. Anita threatens to sell Pankti and Rangoli asks Pankti to leave Ahaan forever if she wants to see Ahaan released from prison. Pankti is kidnapped by Rangoli. Rangoli proposes Ahaan to marry her and she will take back the case. Ahaan disagrees, and with Uday's help breaks out of prison and saves Pankti.

Ahaan is jailed again, and a trial starts for the case. Rangoli hires Dinesh; a cunning lawyer as the prosecutor, and Aparna becomes Ahaan's defense lawyer (Aparna studied law before she got married). Ahaan's mother wins the court case, but Rangoli shows Pankti an incriminating video of Ahaan distances herself from Ahaan so that Rangoli will not reopen the case. Unknown to Pankti, Rangoli has only shown her half of the footage.
