The Undisputed Era (stylized as The Undisputed ERA) is a villainous professional wrestling stable performing in WWE's developmental territory NXT, consisting of Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, and Roderick Strong. O'Reilly and Strong are the current NXT Tag Team Champions in their second reign.

Cole, Fish and O'Reilly debuted the stable on August 19, 2017 at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, although Fish and O'Reilly had already been a tag team since 2012 under the name reDRagon. The duo won the NXT Tag Team Championship in November 2017. On April 7, 2018 at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, Cole became the inaugural NXT North American Champion, he and O'Reilly won the 2018 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and they were joined by Strong at the term of a lengthy feud; he was recognized as co-Tag Team Champion under the Freebird Rule a few days later, making all four members of The Undisputed Era champions from April 11 to June 19, when they lost the Tag Team titles to Moustache Mountain. O'Reilly and Strong regained the titles two days later, minus Fish due to him suffering an injury.

History

Background and formation

Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly debuted as a tag team known as reDRagon in 2012 in the Ring of Honor promotion, becoming three-time ROH World Tag Team Champions. After Fish and O'Reilly lost their third World Tag Team Championship, Fish won the ROH World Television Championship, while O'Reilly began to feud with Adam Cole for the ROH World Championship, with the duo exchanging the title at Final Battle and New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom 11. Cole, Fish and O'Reilly left ROH in 2017.[1][2]

On the July 12, 2017, episode of NXT, Fish made his NXT debut, losing to Aleister Black. On the August 2 NXT, O'Reilly made his NXT debut, also losing to Black. At NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III on August 19, Fish and O'Reilly debuted as a team, attacking the newly crowned NXT Tag Team Champions, Sanity (Alexander Wolfe and Eric Young), as well as their opponents for the night, The Authors of Pain. Later that night, the two aligned themselves with Adam Cole and attacked newly crowned NXT Champion Drew McIntyre.[3] The following month, the trio of Cole, Fish and O'Reilly was officially dubbed "The Undisputed Era".[4]

Championship success (2017–present)

On the October 11 episode of NXT, Taynara Conti interfered in a triple threat match between Nikki Cross, Peyton Royce and Liv Morgan on behalf of The Undisputed Era, preventing Cross from Sanity from winning.[5] At NXT TakeOver: WarGames, the Undisputed Era defeated Sanity and The Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong in a WarGames match, the first of its kind in 20 years.[6] On the December 20 episode of NXT, (taped on November 29), Fish and O'Reilly defeated Sanity (Eric Young and Killian Dain) to capture the NXT Tag Team Championship, marking their first title win in WWE.[7] On the January 10, 2018 episode of NXT, Fish and O'Reilly were scheduled to defend their titles against Sanity in a rematch, but assaulted them backstage, rendering Sanity unable to compete. Later that night, they were forced to defend their championships against Aleister Black and Roderick Strong by NXT general manager William Regal, and successfully retained their titles after Cole interfered and distracted Black.[8] At NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia, The Undisputed Era defeated The Authors of Pain to retain the titles. On March 4, Fish suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee at an NXT live event.[9]

At NXT TakeOver: New Orleans on April 7, 2018, Cole became the inaugural NXT North American Champion in a ladder match. Later that night, O'Reilly and Cole, the latter of whom replaced the injured Fish, successfully defended the NXT Tag Team Championships against the Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne. At the climax of the match, Strong turned on Dunne and allowed O'Reilly to pin Dunne for the win, joining The Undisputed Era and turning heel in the process.[10] WWE recognizes Fish, O'Reilly and Strong as champions, with their single reign being uninterrupted despite the addition of Strong.[11] After developing a rivalry with British Strong Style (Pete Dunne, Trent Seven and Tyler Bate), the two factions faced off on the first day of the second WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament event, where the Undisputed Era lost. On day two of the event, O'Reilly and Strong lost the NXT Tag Team Championship to Seven and Bate, only to win them back two days later, becoming the second team after The Revival (Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson) to win the titles more than once. The rematch also earned a prestigious 5 star rating from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. At NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4, O'Reilly and Strong successfully retained the NXT Tag Team Championship in a rematch against Moustache Mountain, while Cole lost the North American Championship to Ricochet.

Championships and accomplishments

1For The Undisputed Era's first reign, Fish and O'Reilly won the title as a duo, with Strong later being recognized as champion under the Freebird Rule. Cole was also briefly recognized as champion in their first reign between the time Fish was injured and Strong joined.
