Tanner Lee Houck (born June 29, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Career

Houck attended Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Illinois. He was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 12th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft, but did not sign and attended the University of Missouri to play college baseball.[1][2][3]

As a freshman at Missouri in 2015, Houck started 15 games, going 8–5 with a 3.49 earned run average (ERA) and 91 strikeouts and only 12 walks in 100 23 innings.[4][5] After the season, he played for the United States collegiate national team.[6] Against Cuba, Houck, A. J. Puk and Ryan Hendrix combined to throw a no-hitter.[7] As a sophomore, Houck started 15 games and was 5–6 with a 2.99 ERA and 106 strikeouts.

Houck was drafted by the Boston Red Sox with the 24th overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft.[8] He signed on June 21, 2017, and was assigned to the Class A Short Season Lowell Spinners, where he spent the whole season, posting an 0-3 record with a 3.63 ERA in 22.1 innings pitched.[9] Houck started the 2018 season with the Class A-Advanced Salem Red Sox.
