History and background

Symphonic Distribution is based in Tampa, FL and was founded in late 2006. By 2010, Symphonic Distribution was earning more than half a million dollars a year in revenue for its clients.[1]

In 2013, Symphonic Distribution was nominated for Pasco Economic Development Council’s Industry of the Year Award. Pasco’s EDC banquet is regarded as the premier business event in Pasco County, FL.[2]

By 2015, Symphonic Distribution had garnered more than 4,000 clients from all 50 states and more than 100 countries, including artists, labels, and even other distributors who don't have the penetration into digital stores and streaming services that Symphonic has.[3] It generated $2.3 million in revenue in 2014, about $500,000 of which was profit.[4] The company has now nearly tripled in size and continues to pay millions to record labels and artists worldwide.

In September 2015, GrowFL named Symphonic Distribution as one of 50 Companies to Watch.[5]

In 2016, Symphonic Distribution announced an expansion into New York with the intention of establishing new relationships for its distributed labels, artists, and independent brands.[6] In addition, following the closure of Beatport's Distribution company, Baseware Distribution, Symphonic signed over 200 distribution accounts from the defunct distributor.

Symphonic Distribution has been featured in Tampa Bay Business Journal's 2017 Fast 50. The company's CEO, Jorge Brea, was also interviewed by the Business Journal about turning the company into a major music industry player.

In 2017, Symphonic Distribution received a growth capital investment of $4M from Ballast Point Ventures, a Tampa-based private equity firm.

Publishing Administration

In June 2014, Symphonic Distribution announced partnership with TuneCore for Music Publishing Administration Service, becoming the first dance music distributor to have a focus on this important piece in the collection of music royalties.[7]

Video Distribution

In July 2014, Symphonic launched Video Distribution services. Every record label and artist signed onto Symphonic now has an outlet to get their videos to the masses with specifications and metadata details available right now via the Symphonic Management System. Symphonic partnered with some of the top providers in the industry that allows everyone that has a music video produced the ability to get the promotion they deserve. In 2018, Symphonic partnered with Vevo, allowing artists to create and upload music videos on the platform. [8]

Noiseporn

Symphonic Distribution is the owner of the entertainment brand, NoisePorn. NoisePorn is a popular electronic music blog and magazine that has been recognized as one of the best electronic music blogs by DJZ and Breakspoll.[9][10]

In 2015, NoisePorn launched their own online video network on Roku, Chromecast, and Apple TV. The network focuses on exclusive shows, music videos, interviews and more.[11]

Acquisition of Houseplanet Distribution

In 2017, Houseplanet Distribution was acquired by Symphonic Distribution.[12] Houseplanet Distribution, located in Madrid, Spain, as of 2006, focuses on the distribution of house music. This acquisition allowed Symphonic to have a footprint not only in the house music genre but also the European music market.
