Summer House is an American reality television series that premiered on the Bravo cable network, on January 13, 2017.[1] The reality show follows a group of nine friends who share a summer house in Montauk, "a breezy beach town on the easternmost point of Long Island, has become the summer playground for young professionals who want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life".[2] The nine friends featured on the first season include Kyle Cooke, Cristina Gibson, Lindsay Hubbard, Stephen McGee, Carl Radke, Jaclyn Shuman, Everett Weston, Ashley Wirkus, and Lauren Wirkus.[3]

On January 9, 2017, the tenth episode of the fifth season of Vanderpump Rules titled "Summer House Rules" served as a cross-over preview to Summer House.[4][5] The transition of the two-hour episode featured Katie Maloney, Kristen Doute, Scheana Marie, and Stassi Schroeder heading to New York and visit the summer house alongside the cast. After the Vanderpump Rules cast departed New York, the second half featured primarily on the Summer House cast.[6][7] The second half of the episode attracted a total of 842,000 viewers.[8]

Bravo announced in April 2017 that a second season would return.[9] However the Town of East Hampton has denied permission to shoot at the same house on the Montauk/Napeague line. The Town noted that the house could not be used for commercial purposes, violated town codes that prohibit 4 unrelated people living in a house and that the house was not on the town rental registry as was required in 2017.[10]

Bravo announced in November 2017 that the show will premiere the second season on January 22, 2018, with Kyle Cooke, Lauren Wirkus, Carl Radke, Lindsay Hubbard, and Stephen McGee returning from the first season, with Amanda Batula, Danielle Olivera, and Amit Neuman joining the main cast, and Ashley Wirkus returning in a recurring role.

Location

First season

The house in the first season is located at 90 Napeague Harbor Road[11] Coordinates: 41°00′27″N 72°02′04″W / 41.00743°N 72.034428°W / 41.00743; -72.034428 on the extreme western edge of the Census Designated Place of Montauk which includes the hamlet of Montauk.[12] It borders the census designated place of Napeague, New York with some scenes shot on the shore of Napeague Harbor. The house is on the western edge of Hither Hills State Park.[13]

The East Hampton which has jurisdiction of the area fearing that the show would cast Montauk in a derogatory Jersey Shore light did not give permits to shoot in public areas that it controlled including the ocean beaches. Filming took place in private spaces though in the area.[14]

Second season

The house in the second season where filming began on June 23, 2017 is at 1451 Deerfield Road,[15] Watermill, New York (in Southampton (town), New York rather than East Hampton in the first season.[16] Per its 2017 real estate advertisement its listing price of $4,995,000 and has 8 bedrooms on 5.1 acres and includes a heated gunite pool, hot tub, and all-weather tennis court.[17]

Third season

A third season of Summer House is in production, but no details or air date have been confirmed.
