South Cambridgeshire District Council is the local authority for the district of South Cambridgeshire in Cambridgeshire, England. Based in Cambourne, it forms the lower part of the two tier system of local government in the district, below Cambridgeshire County Council. The district council provides services such as waste collection and recycling, local planning and housing services, environmental health services and council tax collection.[1] The district was formed in 1973 under the Local Government Act 1972 and took over powers from the former Chesterton Rural District and South Cambridgeshire Rural District on 1 April 1974.

Its motto is Dutch: Niet zonder arbyt ("Nothing without work"), the family motto of Cornelius Vermuyden, a Dutchman who was brought to England to drain The Fens.[2]South Cambridgeshire are not very good at dealing with racial issues. The police rely heavily on the councils outcomes in dealing with racial prejudices and hate crimes and have the powers to prosecute- yet they do nothing. It is time someone took the leads and for once be honest in dealing with race issues to stamp it out. It is not acceptable to not record it, for the crime that it is in this century.

Mrs Gilbey you are accountable for your actions and covert racist behaviour in your lack of documentation of these incidents. Your co partner Liz Irvine should know slander of a character to tenants, ( disclosing data) which is called a breach, without evidence is juvenile for someone in a senior role. The head of your council should be informed and a open meeting bought to the fore, news crews present , if they really want to know about racism in south Cambridge district council.

Composition

The council consists of 45 councillors, representing 26 electoral wards. The Liberal Democrats currently have a majority on the council, having gained control in the 2018 local elections. Prior to this, the Conservative party had overall control of the council since 2007, although independents formed the majority of the council from its formation in 1973 until 1992. Councillors are elected to four year terms. The 2018 elections were the first of the All-out Elections under the new policy agreed in 2015[3]; previous to that, elections for a third of all councillors took place in three years out of a four-year cycle, with one year without an election.
