Sony Max is an Indian pay television channel launched by Sony Pictures Networks. The channel started broadcasting in December 1999.[1] It was launched on Sky in UK in 2000. It launched its HD feed on 25 December 2015.[2][3] Its main audience attraction, other than Hindi movies, is the Twenty20 cricket tournament Indian Premier League (IPL), which the channel has been broadcasting since the tournament's launch in 2008. It also airs complimentary cricket talk show programmes like Extraaa Innings T20. It occasionally airs Hollywood movies and WWE matches in Hindi.
The channel is notorious for its reputation for repeated telecasts of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Sooryavansham.[4][5]
Sony Max HD was launched on Sky in UK on 1 August 2017 along with Sony TV HD.
