Simon Child (born 16 April 1988 in Auckland) is a field hockey player from New Zealand, who earned his first cap for the national team, nicknamed The Black Sticks, in 2005 against Malaysia. He currently plays for Delhi Waveriders

He played in the 2006 Men's Hockey World Cup in Mönchengladbach, Germany and at the Field hockey at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics.[1][2] At the start of the Rio Olympics, Child had earned 260 caps for New Zealand.[2] He is current captain of the New Zealand Men's Hockey Team.

He scored two goals for New Zealand in the bronze medal playoff against England at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, but was one of the New Zealand players who missed in the penalty shoot-out after the game finished 3-3 at full time.[3]
