Saioku-ji (柴屋寺) is a small Buddhist temple in Suruga-ku, Shizuoka, Japan. It was founded in 1504 by Imagawa Ujichika, on the site of the hermitage of Sōchō (1448-1542), the poetry teacher and advisor to his father, Imagawa Yoshitada. After the fall of the Imagawa clan, the temple received the patronage of the Tokugawa shogunate. The temple has been designated as a National Historic Site, and its Japanese gardens have been designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty by the Japanese government since September 3, 1936.
