Robert Torres is an American attorney, political and the current Acting Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Torres was appointed to this position by on October 11, 2017, following the resignation of Pedro A. Cortés.
Education
Torres received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Pace University and his J.D. from Widener University School of Law.[1]
Career
Torres has worked in multiple positions in the Pennsylvania state government, including as deputy secretary for administration in the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and as Governor Tom Wolf's executive deputy secretary of the commonwealth. Torres then left government to work for General Dynamics.[1]
As Secretary of the Commonwealth, Torres is moving to implement new voting machines in Pennsylvania.[2] Torres was criticized by state Republicans over the 2018 special congressional election.[3]
