Lauren C. Vaughan is an American politician from Washington, D.C., serving as Secretary of the District of Columbia since 2015.

She is a graduate of Hampton University (BA in Mass Media Arts, 1985) and George Washington University (MS in Engineering and Technology Management, 2003)[1]. She had since worked in various organisations as trainer, manager and chief executive. From 2001 she was Co-Chair and Board Chair of My Sister’s Place, a domestic violence shelter[2]. From 2009 to 2015 she was Chief Executive of My Sister’s Place[1].

Vaughan became Secretary of the District of Columbia on January 2, 2015, as a member of the Democratic Party.
