Ridwan (Arabic: رضوان Riḍwān) means "pleased". According to hadith, Ridwan is the name of the angel in charge of maintaining Jannah.

Other forms of Ridwan include “Ridhwan”, "Rizwan", "Rizvan", "Ridvan", and "Rıdvan" in Turkish, Bosnian, Indonesian, Malay, Persian, Urdu, Pashto, Tajik, Punjabi, Kashmiri, and other languages heavily influenced by Persian.
In Brunei, Malaysia, and Indonesia it is alternatively spelled as "Ridwan" or "Riduan". "Redouane" is the most common spelling in French. In Bangladesh, the name may be spelled as "Ridwan", "Rizwan", "Redhwan", or "Rezwan". It may also be transliterated as Redhwan or Redwan.
The female equivalent of this name is "Ridwana".
